We’re excited to share that Essex Lease has officially opened our new office in Edmonton, Alberta — a significant milestone in our continued growth and a reflection of our deepening commitment to supporting businesses across Western Canada.
The doors officially opened on May 11, 2026, with our new location at #203, 4212 Gateway Boulevard NW, just south of Whitemud Drive. Spanning over 4,000 square feet and featuring floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the main area, the space was designed to support collaboration, comfortably house our growing Edmonton-area team, and position Essex for continued expansion in the region.
Why Edmonton
Edmonton has long been an important market for us and for our clients. From transportation and construction to oil and gas, agriculture, and forestry, the city sits at the heart of the industries Essex has supported for nearly 40 years. Establishing a dedicated office here lets us be closer to the businesses we serve, respond faster, and continue building the kinds of long-term relationships that have always been at the core of how we work.
As Ross Sten, President and CEO of Essex, put it: “We see Edmonton as both a strategic market and a talent hub.” The expansion reflects both the strength of our existing relationships in the region and our continued investment in the people and partnerships that make our business work.
Forty Years of Growth, Built on Relationships
Founded in 1986, Essex has grown from a Calgary-based equipment lender into a 100-person organization with team members across Western Canada. That growth has come in steady, intentional steps:
- The launch of our rental fleet in 2018, providing direct equipment support to transportation, construction, and aggregate clients across the region.
- The Essex Charity Golf Classic, launched in 2021, which has now raised more than $750,000 for Kids Cancer Care.
- The acquisition of ATB Financial’s Capital Asset Financing Division in 2025, which strengthened our position as a leading independent provider of equipment and agricultural financing across Western Canada.
The Edmonton office is the next chapter in that story — a strategic investment in our top-tier talent in the region, strengthening our presence from British Columbia through Ontario while maintaining our headquarters in Calgary.
A Shared Space with Prairie Commercial Mortgage Corp
The new Edmonton location is also home to our partners at Prairie Commercial Mortgage Corp, an Edmonton-based brokerage that supports real estate developers and business owners across Western Canada. Announced as a strategic partnership in late 2025, sharing a workspace allows the two teams to deliver more integrated commercial mortgage and equipment financing solutions for our shared clients.

As Essex marks our 40th year in business, the Edmonton expansion represents both a celebration of where we’ve been and a clear signal of where we’re heading.
