As we kick off 2026 and our 40th year of business, it’s the perfect time to reflect on an outstanding year at Essex. In 2025, we continued building momentum—strengthening relationships, investing in our team, and supporting businesses across a wide range of industries. The year was marked by meaningful milestones, strong performance, and moments that reinforced who we are and where we’re headed. Here’s a look back at what shaped our year and how it’s positioning us for what’s next.
Essex Giving Back
This year’s Charity Golf Classic reached new heights, raising an incredible $235,000 for Kids Cancer Care (KCC). Thanks to the continued generosity of our sponsors, donors, and volunteers, the event has grown steadily each year and has raised more than $750,000 for KCC to date. Building on that momentum, we’re excited to announce that next year’s tournament will expand to 27 holes at Heritage Pointe — creating opportunities for more sponsors, more participants, and even greater fundraising (plus more fun).
We’re also thrilled to share that construction is officially underway on the Essex Excavator, a construction-themed treehouse at KCC’s Camp Kindle. This unique space is part of Camp Kindle’s Expansion and Accessibility Project and will be a meaningful addition to the camp, supporting programs that help children and families heal after their cancer journey. The Essex Excavator will give kids a place to spark their imagination, explore, and simply enjoy being kids.
Continuing our spirit of giving, we also hosted a company-wide holiday fundraiser in support of the Calgary Drop-In Centre and the Veterans Association Food Bank. Together, our team raised over $1,800 and collected more than five boxes of donations — reinforcing our commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work.

This year we celebrated four major work anniversaries, highlighting the incredible dedication and contributions of our team.

- Ryan: 25 years (August 24th)
- Shelagh: 10 years (April 13th)
- Carter: 5 years (June 1st)
These anniversaries reflect the effort, commitment, and care you bring to your role, and we’re truly grateful to have you as part of the Essex team. Congratulations on these individual achievements!
Our Key Milestones
In an industry where independent lenders are often absorbed by larger financial institutions, Essex took a different path. In 2025, we officially closed an agreement to acquire ATB Financial’s Capital Asset Financing Division. This milestone strengthened our position as a leading independent provider of equipment and agricultural financing across Western Canada. While our team and capabilities have changed, our approach has not—clients can continue to expect the same personalized service and flexible solutions, now supported by greater scale and expertise.
In 2025, Essex Lease also entered into a strategic partnership with Prairie Commercial Mortgage Corp, an Edmonton-based brokerage supporting real estate developers and business owners across Western Canada. This collaboration expands our service offerings and reinforces a shared commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and driving economic growth throughout the region.
Our other milestones include:
- Portfolio Growth: In 2025, we experienced strong growth across all product offerings, including ABLoC, Rentals, and total fundings.
- Essex Business & Transportation Park: In 2025, we achieved full occupancy across all buildings, with one 3-bay unit becoming available in February 2026.
- Yard Enhancements: Additional yard space and a fueling station were added. In 2026, we’re planning the addition of a scale.
