Position Summary:
This is a multi-faceted Business Development Manager position with a strong emphasis on growing Essex’s direct and vendor access to customers while managing a sales force.
Responsibilities:
- Grow opportunities within Essex’s existing account base while developing new accounts through proactive prospecting and relationship building.
- Retain accounts by building and maintaining strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
- Provide ongoing market intelligence and competitive assessments to senior management, with a focus on long-term value creation and strategic growth.
- Manage relationships within existing accounts, including appointment scheduling, client visits, financial data collection, presentation of terms and conditions, and securing continued business.
- Lead similar activities for new accounts, focusing primarily on targeted end-user opportunities within industries where Essex has established expertise.
- Address client concerns promptly, ensuring issues are resolved and followed up appropriately.
- Conduct regular strategic account reviews (at least annually) to evaluate client needs and identify opportunities for additional business.
- Monitor changes within client accounts—growth or decline—and work with senior management to develop strategies to mitigate risk and maintain account stability.

Required Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Marketing, or Commerce (strongly preferred).
- 5–8+ years of related experience in the financial services, leasing, or banking industry.
- Proven ability to generate new business through prospecting and relationship development.
- Comfortable reviewing financial statements and applying sound lending practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
